did your children who were ill on the exam day, and then did the resit pass the exam? Or is this a death knell, they don't actually accept those kids, even though they sit the resit exam?

We have had children who have passed the 11+ after missing the initial test date for one reason or another.

Yes - my son was ill for both exam dates (Saturdays a week apart). The resit day meant sitting both exams on the same day, pretty much back to back. He passed.

I know someone whose daughter was ill on the main exam day. She sat the test about 9 days later and scored highly enough for the most selective grammar school in the county.

Resit implies that the child has already sat it once before. Deferred sitting is the more appropriate term.

As far as I'm aware, children who are granted an official resit because they were genuinely unwell aren't disadvantaged simply because they're taking the resit. The whole point is to give them a fair chance.
I know of children who sat the resit and still went on to get grammar school places. Just focus on helping your child feel well and confident rather than worrying about the fact it's a resit.
