After school club - how much does yours cost?

Ours is £8 for any length of time until 6pm but the charge is due to rise in September.

I think it is a lot - how does this compare with yours?

Ours is £5.50 until 5pm and £7.50 until 6pm - it does include a drink, sandwich and fruit in with that. On special occasions they have a bbq, fireworks, etc which is also included.

The £2 clubs will def be subsidised and lots go under after as people wont pay the going rate.

I consider £7.50 to be very reasonable and am happy that I get my child looked after safely and that he gets lots of activities etc. There is something each night to do like baking wednesdays, movie night and hotdogs on Fridays etc. He attends 3 nights a week but loves when I swap workdays and he gets to go on Fridays as he likes the movie night lol.

Much more flexible that a cm as you only book what you need the week before so you dont pay for any nights you dont need or when you dont need the service, no retainers etc.

Ours is £3 an hour, and you pay in £1 per 20 minute chunks, but you can use childcare vouchers which makes it cheaper. it's slightly subsidised by the pre-school which is run by the same voluntary organisation.

Hulababy · 09/06/2008 14:14

Currently after school club is included in fees, but from September it will be £3 (IIRR) an evening (3:30pm-5:30pm, inc drink/snack) First half hour, to 4pm, will be free to allow for those picking up from other schools.

Specific clubs, such as art, drama, sport, etc. vary between £3.50 and £4.50 a session.

GooseyLoosey · 09/06/2008 14:23

£8.50 a night regardless of length of stay (up to 6.00). They do get something to eat as well. Would clearly rather pay less, but have never considered that I was being over charged.

Our is now £10 after school

Would a childminder be cheaper?

Mine is £7

whoops · 18/07/2008 18:04

ours is £6.50 for any time up til 5.45

pinkteddy · 18/07/2008 18:06

Childminders usually charge by the hour - and per child. So it depends how long the a/s club is for. I think average childminder charge is around £5 per hour, you can check with your local authority childcare information service.

hana · 18/07/2008 18:08

£10 flat fee (3 - 6)

I think it's brilliant

breakfast club is £4 for 1 hour

zog · 18/07/2008 18:08

One has just started up in another school round here which is £5 per hour per child

Ours is £7.50 until 6pm.

bluesushicat · 18/07/2008 20:28

Breakfast club is £2.50 a day, afterschool £7.50 until 6pm - £50 pw for each child. For 2 members of staff and what they do with them I think it's quite reasonable.

unfitmother · 18/07/2008 20:34

£3.50 am

£5.50 pm

mumtoone · 20/07/2008 21:26

Ours is £6 until 6pm which seems pretty good to me as I've been paying nursery fees for the last 4 years which cost a lot more

Sidge · 20/07/2008 21:29

Ours is £4.20 from 1510-1710.

They also get drinks and a snack eg crumpets, toast, cheese, fruit.

It's great.

About £7 7.30 - 9 and £8.50 3.15 - 6! But £78 for 2 all week. It is London

stealthsquiggle · 21/07/2008 15:16

Blimey.

We pay £5 for 3:30pm - 4:30pm or £10 for 3:30pm - 5:45pm which includes (quite substantial) tea.

christywhisty · 21/07/2008 15:50

£6 until 6PM which includes taking them to the club.
A local school was charging over £20 a day then expecting the parents to pay a retainer fee during half term although they weren't open. Last I heard they were going to extend the retainer fee (can't remember if it was 50% of fees or 100% of fees)during all the holidays
