Nurse, mental health nurse or social care?

I’m 29 year of mom of 2, my youngest son will start nursery next year and it’s time now to better myself and get back into working properly.

I’ve had the thought for years of studying within health care but I’m so unsure on what to study. My options are Nursing, Mental Health Nursing or Social care.

I want a carer that will be flexible once I’ve graduated, something where I can work maybe longer hours but less days, I do not want to work 9-5 Monday - Friday, this is literally my worse nightmare.
I like the idea of a Social Care degree I’m just concerned that most jobs are 9-5, Nursing is also something I’m very interested in although I’ve heard the course can be very demanding in the last 2 years but is it worth it?
I’m just trying to weigh up my options and what will be the best way to work around my little family.

any advice would be really appreciated

If you did social career you can still end up working in mental health. I did social care but a masters. Yes the placements are intensive but it was worth it. I now work within mental health and have done so for the past 10 years. Many are not 9-5 jobs depending on which area you work in.

Have you thought about occupational therapy? Working as a mental health occupational therapist would be a lovely role. And they also work weekends.
