What does this mean for university document?

I am currently applying to university and the admissions team of one of the universities that I applied to requested certain documents for me to help assess my application, but they requested that this be provided by a third-party ie a doctor or some other professional and emailed directly to them from that person’s email account. They said that once they received the document they could attach it to my record, but that they couldn’t accept the document being submitted to them directly from me for purposes of verification.

I managed to get a third party to send them the document two days ago, citing my name and application number (so the university could link it to me) via email and the university hasn’t responded to either me or the third party. By this, I mean they didn’t respond to the third party by saying “thank you for this” or “we will attach it to their record” etc nor did they email me to tell me the third party had done it. I know this because the third party told me they didn’t receive any such response when I asked them.

I’m just confused - even disregarding the specific nature of this situation - if you receive an email from a third party regarding information requested from them about someone else, is it common to respond to the third party? I’m not sure if the university just went ahead and attached the third party’s document directly to my record and went on with their business.

Surely, if there was something wrong like them not accepting the document for whatever reason they’d contact me but they haven’t.

Do you know what might be happening.

it is v common to fail to acknowledge that kind of email. Just because the admin people are busy.

you could email your contact again and ask - have you got the documents and do you need anything else.

Yes, just email admissions and ask them to confirm that they now how everything they need, if it's keeping you up at night worrying.

My DC had to provide documents similarly for proof for widening access criteria. I am not sure the third party got an acknowledgment either.

I agree with this.

Generally, acknowledgement emails aren't common unless they are requested. If the third party knows it was sent, then they've done everything they need. As others have said, if you're worrying, contact the admissions team to check.

They will chase you up if there's a problem. They are dealing with lots more applications than just your's.

Surely if they are so very busy with all the applications they won’t chase it up.

They will just think the OP hasn’t done what she was supposed to do because the documentation they have asked for hasn’t been submitted.

They will either think no more about it or they will think she’s changed her mind or they will think she’s a halfwit.

I can’t imagine them thinking ‘oh we better call Sue Jones, she hasn’t submitted that form’.

They will have monitoring system. They're dealing with 18-year-olds and will expect to chase up at times.

If OP is worried, she can contact the uni to confirm it was received.
