Guildford High School 7+ Exam

Hi, has anyone had recent experience sitting the GHS 7+ exam? I could only find a thread that was 10 years old.

My understanding is that they have a full day assessment where they play and do some classes as well as an English and Maths test. The old thread said there was no non-verbal reasoning. Can anyone confirm this? How long is the test?

Is there an interview? What do they ask? How heavily do they rely on the current school referral? Are there only 8 spots?

thanks in advance for your insight.

15 7+ spots, a bulk goes to siblings and staff children, making the % offered / applicants one of the lowest for 7+ arena, they do look into school reference but their exam is well known to be of above average difficulty, no 1:1 interviews

Thanks for your insights - really appreciate it.

We came in at 4+ and quite a few years ago, but in our year no staff children started at 7+ (they had all come in at 4+). There were a few siblings:at 7+. They don't actually have sibling priority (several younger sisters of girls in our year didn't get a 4+ place) but I guess siblings are often quite similar. At least half at 7+ were completely new to the school.

Don't bank on getting a place, but don't discount it either.

Thanks, good to hear it’s a possibility!

The number of spaces depends how many girls they already have in Y2. We were in a big year in KS1 so there were only 7-8 spaces though none went to staff children in our year as they were already in.

I know the Year 2 class is already full at 24. Theoretically shouldn’t that mean there’s 24 spots if they create a second class in year 3?

Admissions said they have 15 'new' spots and this year there are 60+ new applicants for year 3
