Advice on Aylesbury/ Bucks grammar schools - if you pass the 11+, how likely to get a place?

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone who has experience of the 11+ process for Buckinghamshire grammars could help. My query is, if a child passes the 11+ and is eligible for a place, living within catchment for Aylesbury Grammar School or Henry Floyd, could they still be turned away? From the Bucks CC website, it says they will 'do their best' to find a space for those eligible. But I couldn't find statistics to show how many apply, and how many are eligible but not accepted.

The allocations for several years are here, so you can see whether someone ranked under the same oversubscription criterion as your DD would have got in. For this year, or whenever you are applying, all you can do is list chools on your CAF in your true order of preference ant the system do its thing, so to speak.

Check school place allocation statistics for current or past years

Remember that distance is measured in a straight line, as the crow flies, between your house and the school.
If you 'apply for a school' on the Bucks website it will calculate the distance and you can check it with allocation data (the link is above)

Thanks very much Marching Frogs and Pipsquiggle for your replies and the helpful link. Having looked at this, it seems that everyone who met the eligibility criteria and was in catchment was admitted, unless I've misunderstood it.

My boys are a couple of years away from sitting the exam, and I'm not sure if they'll pass. We have moved quite a lot with work and are now looking ahead to our next move. I don't know the area well. If you have any thoughts on good secondary moderns apart from Waddesdon, or (as a stretch) private day schools, in the area, please do let me know.

Amersham School is good. It wasn't until about 15 years ago, but a strong HT and excellent SLT have turned it around and it is now often over-subscribed.

DD2 and her cohort (now in their mid-20s) were the first to benefit from that turnaround and all 8 of her friendship group went to university with 3 of them additionally gaining impressive Masters degrees.

They're also a lovely gang who are always welcome at our house.
