GM - considering sending our son to sevenoaks for boarding next year at age 13. My husband is British and I am American- our son is presently at an IB school (not in uk or USA) that is has a diverse international study body. We love sevenoaks and think it will be a good fit for him academically. I have had some ppl express concerns that my sons "American accent" will make it hard for him to be accepted at sevenoaks especially given America atm. Does anyone have any perspective on settling in at sevenoaks for American boarders ? Tysm

Hi, my DCs are currently students in y11 and y13 at Sevenoaks. The student body is very diverse, including many students with American accents. Particularly as you move further up the school, international students become the majority, with approx 60 borders in y9-11 and 130 in y12 and 13. Even though most of the boarders are not American, there is still a very prominent American accent amongst the day and boarding students as many of them have learnt English from American teachers. In addition, the headmaster is American and so are many more of the teachers, so your child will feel very welcome at the school. If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to let me know.

Sevenoaks parent here. I find the feedback you've received prior to posting on here really odd, I can't imagine anyone who has actually sent their child there would say this. Sevenoaks is known to have an incredibly diverse and international student body; as above responder has said, the Head is from the US and you will hear a gazillion accents around campus.
