Why does having to talk to Dd's teacher freak me out so much?

I'm a sane, rational, intelligent adult (allegedly). Why is it that parent's evenings or meetings with teachers to discuss DDs dyslexia (which is happening in about half an hour) make me feel like a small stupid six year old?

Tis the whole 'authority figure' throwback to your childhood thingy. [strokes beard]
I am married to a teacher. Takes the sting out it, lol!

agree with Nicky, its a autority thing. I too have no problem, my mother is a retired head teacher!

Good luckk anyway. They are normal people, you know!

It's those tiny chairs they make you sit in on parents evening I reckon

Iam a teacher and I still feel a bit wobbly about seeing ds's teachers

MrsWeasley · 03/06/2008 17:16

I have never minded seeing any of the kids teachers (I do get butterflies tho) except the one my DD has at the moment. In fact I've already made up my mind that I am not going to see her at the next parents evening. I supposed I dont mind seeing them as I have always helped at school and so see them often.

I was brave and teacher turned out to be quite human (actually very nice and helpful).
DD has done lots of dyslexia assessment things - will have to ring her to get full results but she can't see DD ahving much problem - it's only her atrocious spelling that is an issue. personally think she is rather G and T and A too but then I am her mum.
