Ofsted again - what are your children's views about their school's inspection?

I recently asked what parents thought about Ofsted inspection from their experience - thanks for your interesting responses (and do add more!). Now I wanted to ask you what your CHILDREN thought about their Ofsted inspection. Were they aware of the inspection? Did things change after it/stay the same? I'm editing a think-tank pamphlet on inspection and I'd love to hear what you have to say. Thank you!

Cynical, I think in the case of dd. She and her classmates get special assemblies where they are told what not to say to the Ofsted inspector. Basically nothing negative, never let on that you don't enjoy a subject.

It's a shame the school does this as it undermines the children's respect for their elders- totally needlessly, as it is really quite a good school.

At the recent, shockingly short and wholly unrepresentative, inspection, dd was one of the few children asked to talk about their work. She started in January.
Her class was told that there would be visitors, that they were friends of the school, and that the normal don't speak to strangers did not apply.
She was happy to go into a classroom with them and show off her work. They were lovely with her (from what I can tell), saying "what lovely work, well done". So all in all she had a positive experience with ofsted.
Unfortunately the school didn't, insofar as got a satisfactory, when most schools get a good round here.
The report (on the basis of the day and a half viewing) said lots of positive things, lots of improvement showing, lots of praise. But on the basis of the last reported SATS from the year 6 tests last year, they could not give anything other than a satisfactory, although the report acknowledged that of the 60 children tested, 37 had started at the school after year 3 and that there had been a lot of upheaval in that particular year.
My hope is that they don't leave it another 5 years before the next inspection, because in the meantime prospective parents are inevitably put off as a result of the satisfactory ofsted.

I have never heard of DCs being told what to say or not to say to an Inspector! Children are used to visitors, they are used to lesson observations so it shouldn't make any difference. It does to the teachers! With the new short inspections they might not see much of the Inspectors anyway. My DSs have never been interested and wouldn't mention it unless asked (and you don't get much out of them then!).

At our last 2 OFSTEDs the inspectors asked to interview the school council and also talked to the children in the classes they visited so it would be very difficult for them not to be aware of the inspection.
