Child being bullied. Is this normal practice?

My has been getting bullied by one other child at school. The school finally seem to be doing something about it and said they will raise it as bullying and send the anti bullying policy to the child's parents as well as myself.
Why would I receive it if my child is not the one doing the bullying?
Is this normal practice?

So that you know the steps that they will take? Seems like a good idea.

The anti-bullying policy will outline how they define bullying and how they deal with it. I assume they're sending it to you to check you're satisfied they are following it. It sounds like they're dealing with it appropriately, which is good news. Fingers crossed this nips it in the bud and your child feels like they have been listened to and respected.

Do read the policy as the school is doing the right thing, be aware of how and when you need to report any further instances of bullying. This is taken seriously by the schools although one needs to word it appropriately for people to take notice, no hype or underplaying needed, just state the facts and channelise it to the right inbox

I'm so sorry it's happening to your child, I hope they deal with it pronto.

They sent you this policy to ensure you know how they define bullying and what to expect. It's normal practice.
