Hi, I am probably not helpful at all as I’m not a Crosfields mum per se. I was looking to change my twins’ school from St Pirans to something more academic for the upcoming Year 2. We looked at Crossfields, Cheam and St John’s Beaumont. Crossfields and St John’s Beaumont were the top choices and we couldn’t decide at all at the big family merting. (Until my dad said - I like the name St John’s more, let’s go there :-) ). Crossfields have great facilities. It’s not bad at all academically either it seems. I asked Abingdon senior admissions team and they said they had 4 children from Crossfields joining (either last year or this year). There were some threads here about Crosfields that you have probably seen. I was a little concerned about the focus on sports at Crosfields (alumni joining as sports teachers etc etc) as one of my twins is not sporty at all. It’s hopefully less likely to close compared to some other schools. (I get into the panic about St John’s Beaumont closing every now and then, as it’s a smaller school). Have a look at Cheam too if that’s doable for you.

My son has been at Crosfields for several years. It is an excellent school. Absolutely superb. He has flourished and I cannot speak too highly of it. The academics are sound, the pastoral care is second to none. Yes, it is sporty ,HOWEVER there is a team in each sport for every child regardless of ability and they will all play matches against other schools. My son didn't start off sporty but he enjoyed the matches and the opportunity to be 'promoted" into the next team up. He is now very sporty indeed! Music, drama, the arts , languages, humanities - all are taken very seriously as well as STEM. Crosfields "produces" very well rounded children. No danger of it closing - the student roll is very healthy and they are expanding provision in Sept 2026 to take 2 year olds.
