Hi

We live in the Breakspear catchment area but are considering independent schools, specifically Maltmans Green, does anyone have any views or recommendations about either school ? Specifically on which school have to offer with respect to academic excellence, exposure to sport and resilience.

thank you !

I would not recommend MG school. AVIOD!!!!!!!!

Not sure about the other one I can only comment on MG from personal experiences.

The mothers are clique-y and stuffy with new money vibes (who can throw the better party, has the richer husband) etc - trust me this matters. The children turn obnoxious as they grow up through the years although visible earlier on.

Very poor diversity especially for the prep years onwards and the school itself.

Excessively academically pushy but very poor with pastoral and emotional care.

They want robotic conformists and most kid/s don’t encourage freedoms of expression.

MG has majority pushy Indian parents (no hate to ethnicity - following my point of lack of diversion) and sadly leave others as outsiders - you will notice when they don’t invite your child to birthdays and single her out.

Also the head is awful and phoney but on the plus she retires next year.

I would not recommend MG school. AVOID!!!!!!!! We recently attended an open/familiarisation day at Maltman’s Green for our daughter and came away extremely disappointed.
For a school that promotes itself so heavily on pastoral care and nurturing children, our experience unfortunately did not reflect this at all. The organisation and communication surrounding the visit felt poor from the outset, and several aspects of the day left us genuinely concerned.
One of the biggest disappointments was that the new Headteacher did not make any effort to introduce herself, welcome us, or engage with us during the process. Even more frustrating was the lack of response to emails we sent afterwards raising our concerns and seeking clarification. As prospective parents considering a significant financial and educational commitment, this felt dismissive and unprofessional.
Our daughter was also left feeling uncomfortable and unsupported during parts of the day, which was upsetting to hear afterwards. For a child visiting a new school environment, you would expect much more care, warmth, and attention to ensuring they feel included and settled.
Overall, the experience simply did not match the image the school projects. We left feeling that appearances and reputation may be prioritised over genuine pastoral care and communication with families.
A very disappointing experience overall.
