My daughter is struggling in GCSE science. Exams are starting soon, is there any help available online to revise whole GCSE science paper 1 and paper 2?

Past paper questions are the best way to revise. Look on physicsandmathstutor.com for whole papers and questions by topic.

She should read the question, attempt the question- even if that’s writing some key words she thinks might be involved. Then read the mark scheme: first look for the clues in the question that should lead to that answer (there are always clues), then focus on the content, then the wording of the answer. Don’t worry about getting it right or the number of marks, focus on updating knowledge and technique.

If she’s finding big gaps in content knowledge, senecalearning is free and very good. But best used alongside exam Qs.

Good luck to you both!

Adding to the above.

It can sometimes be useful to just write what you think the question is asking.

BUGing a question can also help.

Start with the question, box the command word so if it says 'describe' box that and box what it is you are describing.

Then underline the key words, so if the question is 'Describe the oxygen cycle' you would underline oxygen and cycle.

Then as you write the answer you 'go back' and tick off the key words as you use them.

Personally I quite like knowledge organisers, the creation of one can help with revision.

I agree that practising past papers and familiarising oneself with the mark schemes is the best way forward, especially biology which has a very specific mark scheme.

DD used the CGP revision guides and BBC Bitesize when she was revising for her GCSEs.

Good luck to your DD @zeebaig

If you can afford it savemyexams is good. Think it’s about £40. Or PMT above. They do great mind maps. Questions questions questions.

I agree, lots of past paper practice and there are some great websites and youtube channels to close the gaps if she doesn't understand. It is very close to the exam so getting a few sessions with a qualified reacher can help build confidence.

My neice is currently using a YouTube channel called amalearning and will be attending their AMALATHON 2 revision sessions. (https://youtube.com/@amalearning?si=LCk_esZ7S1AkQv4M)

They covered all of the paper 1 content during the April holidays and the recordings are available to watch.

Over the exam season their teachers are going to cover all of the paper 2 content during the half term holidays and they are running exam prep/ last min revision/ exam practice the weekend before each exam. This is the link to the advert is ()

Good luck, I hope she does amazing!

Before you continue to YouTube
