Dublin Montessori pre-school HELP

Hi,

we are relocating from Switzerland to Dublin with two small children aged 3years and 5months.
can people recommended a good pre-school for the 3year old. He’s used to a very active program, normally outside for 2hours per day. We are open to areas and will let the school dictate.
we will work in the city and thought anywhere within 30mins would be ideal.
thanks for all the tips and help

Playhouse Montessori in Skerries sounds like it would suit, and they have a baby room so would take both the dc. Skerries is a nice area and has a lovely beach.

You might want to post in Craicnet

You also might want to clarify if you want the typical preschool programme that is from 9-12 and paid for by the government (ECCE) or a full day creche. \

I assume you are still looking for a place to live and will find a preschool first and then a place to live?

also 30 minutes by car? public transport?

We need to know your budget - that will influence where you live. It’s very expensive to live in the nice parts of Dublin with a half hour commute.

It's hard to get pre schools in Dublin, they often have huge waiting lists. Do you know where you'll be living?

Early education is covered by a Government scheme -

Hi OP. I can't recommend Castle Park school more highly.

My children went through their Montessori and it has lots of expats as well as Irish.

Thanks so much all and sorry I should have been more specific. We would prefer an all day program which we know requires fees. 30mins driving or public transport although when I look at driving estimations it says 30-60mina often and I understand traffic is terrible. We will find the school then the house as the school is most important for us.

I would definitely ask first this thread to be moved to Craicnet - it’s the “Irish section” of Mumsnet.

Normally school first house second works, but not for Dublin due to the serious lack of availability of property on rental or sale markets.
Myhome.ie and daft.ie are worth looking at to get to grips with the crazy housing market. Full time nursery places maybe tricky, but generally if you can get a pre school place, the quality will be good.

I think both are difficult, so i have heard people doing it that way as well. But OP should bear in mind National schools (and onward depending on future plans) as well. I mean, there might be amazing preschools in some less salubrius parts of dublin but the schools may be rubbish.

Yes it’s quite the jigsaw and we know we won’t get the right house and the right school so we’ve prioritized schools and will compromise on house in the right area or as close as we can get for a period of time

St Nicholas Montessorri in Dun Laoghaire might be worth checking out.
Again I would say open a thread in Craicnet, the Craicnetters are so helpful and have lots of information re schools and places to live.
