We are potentially interested in this school for our DS. Mainly because it’s not too far away. Currently at village primary in Y5. We are thinking of moving him for secondary school. Academically very able but will coast unless pushed. Very sporty. Quite boisterous. Our number one priority is that he grows up kind. Happy in his own skin is also very important. We would like him to have the option of Oxbridge or other competitive higher education options if that’s what he wants when the time comes, but can tutor at home if necessary.

Any experiences of this school, past or present? It seems to have had a lot of changes of head. The current head has only been in place since September 2024.

Just bumping as I posted in the middle of the night - probably not the best time of day!

Does anyone happen to know anything about this school at all?

My dc attends the school after finishing at a local primary school

the new leadership has invested huge amounts of money into improving the grounds & 6th form. The previous company didn’t invest in recent years so it’s much needed & enhances the experience for pupils & staff.
I was a reluctant parent to start with as struggled with the idea of private education but the catchment secondary (now Ofsted RI) didn’t inspire me to send dc. I now love to see how he’s thrived there being well supported by the staff. He’s kind, gentle and enjoys his time at school with a nice group of friends. It’s not posh, there’s a mix of parents from all walks of life. It’s A lovely environment as they offer plenty of sport, drama & music opportunities
The only downside is trying to get out onto the A33 at the end of school if you need to head towards Reading!

Thank you so much for your reply. That’s so reassuring. We are not ‘posh’ at all, so that is a genuine concern - that either DS or we wouldn’t fit in, or that he’d feel different to the other children. We actually have some great state secondaries, but they are big class sizes and multi-form entry. Kind and gentle is exactly what we are hoping for! Please may I possibly PM you if I think of any specific questions?

Thank you very much. That’s really kind of you. I’ll start making a list of things to ask and try not to make it too long!
