Correlation between scholarship invite and offer

Hello
Just wanted to see if anyone has experience of year 7 scholarship process at private schools? Our child was invited for a non-academic scholarship assessment following the entrance test day. Does this mean that they're likely to be offered at least a full fee place at the school? Nerves are kicking in!

No previous experience, but I am in the same position as you. First assessment was prior to the exam (for sports scholarship) and then after the exam they sent an email inviting for stage 2. This made me wonder if it means a very good chance for getting at least a full fee place.

Curious too, especially with the Hammersmith schools! Wondering if everyone just gets invited (as long as they fulfill the requirements for applying) after passing first round. DD level is not particularly high so we weren't necessarily expecting to be invited.. hoping it's a good sign for a place regardless of getting the scholarship.

Have you checked the scholarship values available. It is rare for there to be full fee scholarships now, most are a percentage of fees done only honorary or token amount. Students who end up with full fees covered usually have had their parents apply for bursaries to cover the fees not covered by scholarship.
My daughters performing arts scholarship was £50 towards performing arts equipment - it bought half a pair of mid range tap shoes.

One school we looked at offered 200 pounds a year. Another school 10% off school fees. Third school 5k a year.

@Needanadultgapyear I think OP is hoping that this implies that her DC will be offered a place at the school (regardless of whether or not they get a scholarship).

Phone the school and ask them. I would assume that your child might receive a scholarship if they do well during the assessment.
How much the scholarship will be worth is another matter.
If you haven’t already, ask about applying for a bursary and about any payment plans they might have.
In my experience, private schools are very upfront with parents about affordability. They obviously want the children they offer places to to attend. Good luck! Your LO is clearly doing well.

Ah, sorry I miss read the OP. Yes, I would assume that your LO would at least be offered a full fee place if they are invited back for a scholarship assessment.

For sports / art or drama - there is no guarantee of a place, I know many who have been rejected or WListed for those categories.

thanks everyone- I guess I was hoping that they wouldn’t waste staff time (or child’s hopes) by calling back for a scholarship assessment if she hadn’t passed the academic hurdle. Keeping everything crossed!
