North Bridge House London

Hello, we are planning to move to London this year and are looking for the right school for our Year 5 and Year 8 children. North Bridge House Prep and Senior are on our shortlist. Would anyone with experience at these schools be able to share their thoughts or recommendations? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I have visited the prep and live locally so I see the pupils around the area, but my dcs don't go there. Tbh it is seen as a bit of a fall-back school as it isn't really selective (I think they do a gentle taster day) and I felt the building was a bit uninspiring with large class sizes for years 5 & 6 compared to other preps. However I see the kids out and about at Regent's Park and Talacre Sports Centre often so they get out for sports and play time (the playground space at the school is quite small), and the destination schools are pretty good. But there are a large number of preps nearby and NBH wouldn't be my first choice. Are you looking for girls or boys?

I don't know much about the senior schools, but I think generally the more academic kids leave the prep to go elsewhere, and the Canonbury site is supposed to be small and a bit limited with options, the Hampstead one seems better.

It seems that NBH at Regent's Park and Hampstead are going to be run as an Alleyn's North School by Cognita from September 2025 (2026 for the Senior School). Alleyn's is a selective all-through co-ed in South London, which is very highly regarded, and the educational ethos and curriculum will be used in the Alleyn's North schools. So that would make me reconsider those schools, although I don't know how much the new schools will genuinely be as effective as the established school. I know that the Cognita company have had a similar approach with Brighton College which apparently has done well.

We live quite close and we wouldn't have considered NBH but Alleyn's North is an option that we'll keep in mind for the future for my dcs (they are much younger so we have time to see how things progress).
