Retraining as a therapist/counsellor and looking for tips

I am 61 years old, son at uni, and have decided to retrain as a therapist or counsellor.
I am sure I will find the study fascinating but also want to have a career that I can practice into my 70’s.

Its such a big time and financial commitment I wanted to ask if anyone has studied in London and specifically if they have experience of training at the Tavistock or The Minster?

I will of course only apply to accredited course's and am interested in maybe working for The NHS when qualified.

All opinions, tips and insights welcome

I retrained as a counsellor in my late 40s, not in London but wanted to say it was the best thing I ever did. Now work for a children’s charity.

It could be very hard to make any money anytime soon, OP. Best only train if you want to for your own development and can manage financially afterwards without much extra income. The training supervision and personal therapy will be expensive.

The Minster Centre is good; Tavistock under fire at the moment.
