Good morning everyone I am considering taking my daughter out of school part time to home school , she is in year 10 I just have no idea where to start , what resources and websites are there to help with her gcse English amd maths ? She has adhd and severe anxiety to the point she goes in to school but gets sent home almost every day due to passing out.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thank you 😊

Exams can be tricky and expensive, OP.
First you need to work out which exams centres, in your area, will take private candidates.
Then work backwards from that: which GCSEs can that exam centre accommodate?
Be aware that there are different exam boards with different requirements. So GCSE maths with Edexcel isn't the same as GCSE maths with AQA.
When you start studying you need to make sure your text book and study materials lines up with the exam your kid will eventually take.
A good starting point is the Home Education exams Wiki: he-exams.fandom.com/wiki/Category:New_to_HE_or_Exams

If your DD can't attend for medical reasons, then the LA should be ensuring she gets a full time education under Section 19 of the Education Act. What provision has the school made for her SEN?

We used Absolute Maths (live or recorded lessons and work to do). For English - Homemade education. Humanatees does geography and history (and some other subjects). Southwest Science for the sciences. Learntec for computer science. Art and Design Room for art.

We know people who just got the course book and worked through it but having a course of lessons and set worked that was marked was much easier for me. It still needed a lot of input from me though but that depends on your child.

The Wiki site is good and there are loads of home ed GCSE support groups on Facebook for particular subjects that are helpful.

A lot of people use Tutors and Exams centres to sit the exams in. The cost does add up so you might want to think about how many she needs to get to the post 16 stage of what she wants to do and restrict the number to that.

My DS is enrolled here. It's been so much better for him:

kingsinterhigh.co.uk/

I applied for an EHCP and the local authority now pay the fees.

It's worth pursuing a diagnosis if you suspect SEN, which sounds highly likely.

im in Australia, but we got a psych letter and enrolled my daughter in an online school. They have classes over zoom etc so it’s all supported

She can't attend due to medical reasons don't home school as this means full responsibility for her education falls on you. Demand the school (and ultimately the LA when school fail) provide full time education. They could fund tutors at home or online school all sorts of things if there is medical needs.

You haven't been keeping your dd home the school have been sending her home. They can't now argue this isn't illness.

Join the fb group not fine in school. Excellent advice there on how to get education provided.

You really shouldn't have to fund her education yourself. The exams alone are a lot of money and would be sat in with everyone else likely a LONG drive from home- is this more or less anxiety provoking? If she stays on school roll but is educated at home she can attend her exams at school

Personally, I wouldn’t deregister and EHE and I wouldn’t go down the flexi-schooling either. I you want to flexi-school, have you spoken to the school because you need their agreement? If DD can’t attend school full-time I would pursue provision under section 19 of the Education Act 1996. If you deregister and EHE, the LA won’t be responsible for this. IPSEA has a model letter you can use to request this provision.

Alongside this, use another of IPSEA’s letters to request an EHCNA. An EHCP can provide far more support, including therapies, than the vast majority of parents can afford to fund themselves.

have you considered sending her to a small school? If she has severe anxiety and adhd I know a school that has only around 10 students where she could have her own space but get the full curriculum.
