Bucks 11 plus selection review

Hi , I have twin daughters and one of them qualified in bucks 11 plus and another got 118. We have submitted selection review with head teacher score of 2:1 and GDS in all areas by end of year 6 and recommended for grammar school. My DD is Nov born but preterm 2 months before, expected first of Jan. We have called this out during review document for age standarisation. We have not called out the details of twin who qualified as we wanted to focus only on the twin who missed out. Would it add value if another twin details were mentioned. As I have already submitted, would it be possible to send a note on this to admission team? How are the chances with this head teacher score.

Last year 35% of selection reviews with a score of 118 were successful

The GD (and proof of that) will be looked on favourably, as will the 2, 1 rating.

I have heard, however, that if the child scored below 121 in two sections of the test, with one super high score pulling up the average, then selection review will not be successful.

The results of the twin are totally irrelevant for this purpose.

Hi @DibbleDooDah Thanks for your response. DD age standarised score is 120 in Verbal, 118 in maths and 114 in NVR. Her head teacher have given really good notes for her maths skills. However I'm concerned as well on all 3 scores being less than 121 or close to it. Would age standarisation be considered for preterm of 2 months by any chance. Would adding other twin detail as aspirational point instead of academic would benefit

Age standardisation adjustment for being premature is unlikely to amount to any large movement on scores. Perhaps half to one point.

Your child hasn’t met the required score of 121 in any elements of the test. That would go against them. The key to success will rest almost entirely on the evidence provided by the head of their primary school.

You need to treat your twins as simple siblings for this purpose. One passed and one didn’t. You wouldn’t bring in the argument of an older sibling scores so it is entirely irrelevant for these purposes. I’m not sure why you think it would help in any way?

Thank you again. Though we didn't call out in selection review document that she is a twin, I was in dilemma whether to call out or not, in terms of mental health well being. Looks it doesn't matter and is solely dependent on head teacher report. We will wait for the outcome. Thanks

This is NOT an appeal (where things like that might be considered). A selection review is literally a consideration as to whether or not your child’s score in the test was an unexpected anomaly and all other evidence points to the assumption they should have passed.
