Has anyone got girls at Cheltenham Ladies’ College?

I'm reposting this here as I got
no replies in Chat! (name changed so isn't linked to previous posts), I really need some on the ground intel from people with daughters at CLC.

I am looking for a place for my daughter to start in year 9 (LC3) and want to know what it's really like beyond the smiles of the open day. She would be a day girl.

How international is it? If it's more than half girls from abroad, has this hindered your girls' chance of making friends in this country (for holidays, future friendships etc). This is one of the things that puts me off the school. By having such a large contingent from abroad, does it change the ethos/ culture/ friendships your girls can cultivate? (Ie, they all fly home to Hong Kong/ Nigeria over the holidays, or move immediately back there after school finishes, breaking ties).

The head seems very good, down to earth, right ethos, talks the talk. Seems to be a large focus on pastoral care??

I'd love to hear the opinions - good and bad!
Thank you.

Yes my daughter started here as a first year and is now UC5. She will be moving on to 6th form next year but she's a boarder so might be a little different. She has mostly loved her time here, yes it is very international to a massive degree but this has not made any difference to anything really. The Chinese girls tend to clump together a bit but the staff like to ensure everyone integrates and mixes. Things like, speaking in languages other than English is generally frowned upon in social groups. Clc is a good all rounder school, academics are good but it's not a super academic hot house like say, Westminster or st Paul's. Pastoral care is excellent but yes, girls do go home in the hols to their respective home countries. This is more of an issue for boarders though as I assume your family lives in Cheltenham and your daughter's friend group will also be mostly girls who live locally. The girl's who leave for other countries are mostly all boarders xx

I also have a DD very likely to start CLC sixth form 2025 as a boarder. How social are the holidays for girls that are UK based? Are there many UK based boarders?
Also do the boarders mix well with the day girls at sixth form?

My DD made her best friends at CLC and now at uni she still makes the effort to visit them at their unis and they come and visit her at hers. It was a fantastic experience - she has friends from all over the world. The overseas girls do go home in the holidays but there were lots of U.K. based boarders and in our experience the day girls and boarders mixed well. CLC is a great all rounder school with a huge variety of opportunities.
