adopted child secondary school

Hello! Wondering if anyone can help with secondary school suggestions in SW London area - we live in Teddington - for adopted daughter with severe attachment issues. We got her draft EHCP last week which specifies in section F, a school that must first and foremost meet her attachment needs and in secondary setting, small class sizes and a high adult pupil ratio. I am really struggling to find this in either state or private sector. Most private schools will be reluctant to take her as although she's bright, she is behind (August baby). Ideally we'd like to find a school with a Year 6 and hold her back a year. Would be so grateful for anyone else's suggestions or experience.

Canbury in Kingston?
Maybe also places like Burlington house. Dyslexia school but say they take pupils who need small class sizes

@OneBiscuit are you looking at state or private? State school classes all tend to be the same size, as they all have similar budgets. Some are slightly less than 30, e.g. 27-28 on average, which gives them some flexibility to flex some classes up to 30 and others down to, say, 25. But you won't find class sizes much lower than that.

As regards having a year 6, do you mean an all-through school? The only state all-through school in Richmond Borough is St. Richard Reynolds, but it prioritises Catholics (even for looked-after children). Private options are St Catherine's & Radnor House.

In the neighbouring borough of Hounslow there is an all-through Reach Academy (state school).

@OneBiscuit there is also this option, which was due to open this year, but I don't know if it did: https://www.beckmeadtrust.org/london-river

The London River Academy

SOSSEN May be useful as the certainly used have a good knowledge of schools

More info on London River Academy here: https://formerbarneshospital.co.uk/london-river-academy/

The FAQs say "The aim is ... for the school to be completed by autumn 2025 in time for the academic school year."

Have you had a look at the Kingfisher Centre at Teddington School? Although the school is big, the centre is a relatively new SEMH provision and is very small. It actually might be ideal.

alternatively Radnor does offer small classes, but the move to a new site relatively soon might be hard for her.

Good luck. You are doing a wonderful thing.

Again depends on needs but Capella House in Twickenham

Hello everyone, thank you so much for these suggestions. I am following them up now and feel slightly less daunted by the task.

Huge thanks
