Educated out of year group (EOYG) - Warwickshire

Hi, I’m looking for some advice (sorry it’s a
bit of lengthy post).

My son is currently EOYG, so he is currently in year 5 - but based on his DOB he should be in year 6. He was a summer baby and the main reason we delayed his start was due to his heightened anxiety. This was approved by his current primary school at that time.

I have recently been informed that we now have to apply for a deferred entry. What this means is that we are asking schools if they are willing to to accept his application. This doesn’t mean that he will be given a place, it simply means they will accept his deferred application next year. If they say yes, we will then apply as normal in year 6.

What I would like to know is whether there is anybody in Warwickshire who has experienced this? At present we have had 1 school that has said no, and a couple of others are still processing the application. One of them is also looking unlikely - but they haven’t said no as yet.

I am getting a little anxious and was hoping to hear from anyone who is going through this process or has recently gone through this.

Thanks in advance.
