My son is anxious about his GCSE: what can I do to support him?

Hello everyone,
My son is retaking his GSCE and is very stressed about it as he had a previous bad experience last year. I want to push him but I'm worried to drain him. I'm nt sure what's the right balance to motivated him without getting him complitely burned out. I'd appreciate help please.

On a second point, I'm not sure what books to buy or platform to pay for. I'm willing to put in the budget if that brings him confidence in the exams but I can't afford more than 1-2 subscriptions + books. Any recommendations? I've heard that Anki might be a good investment for flashcards and Tilf website for essay marking. Are they trustworthy? Otherwise would you recommend a traditional tutor? It's a lot more expensive so if something like Tilf can work, I'd rather go with that. But I also don't want to lead my son into error.

Any help is welcome please.

Naming the GCSE subject in question would be helpful for posters to give you mire specific advice, OP.

Can you clarify please?

Is he retaking all / many of his GCSEs, or just English Language and/or Maths?
Is he doing a course at college too or taking a year out?

Is retaking really a good idea, would not moving on to college be a better plan?

Yeh @TamLive we need a bit more info.

When is he sitting his exams - November or next May/June?
What exams - maths, English, or more?
Is he sitting them in a school setting or as a private candidate?
And yes, why is he resitting? Did he not get passing grades? Would he be better on a college course as Teen suggests?
