Leaving without notice

Just started at a new school and it is really not the right job for me. 2 days in and my health is suffering ( mental and physical).
I want to leave with immediate effect, does anyone know if this is possible- the burgundy book says I would be expected to stay until Christmas? What can I do?

How is your health suffering after two days?

Hand your notice in and ask to leave with immediate effect. If they say no, take legal advice on your contractual obligations.

My school has a probation period in our contract ( academy ) so the school can give 1 week notice and the teacher 1 month . Might be worth checking .
However , are you sure you have given it enough chance . It always takes time to establish yourself in a new school ?

Two days is a short time to make such an important decision.

Do you get the impression that the school is feeling negative towards you? Sometimes schools will release a teacher at short notice, so, if you’re sure that you want to leave, you could ask.

Usually you're contracted for a terms notice

@Brunelofbrio primary or secondary?
Think of the children. Cover is really difficult and expensive for schools to get, so unless you're ill enough to be signed off from work you should give notice.

It might be worth having the conversation about leaving. In a previous school, we had a new teacher leave after 2 days.
