my nephew and neice moved schools around that age
they were absolutely fine
that age is very adaptable
what helped them was having a good look round the school I think before they went

thanks , thats a good idea , we are lucky as our neighbors children will be in the same class as mine and are good friends so this will help .

the other children will be pleased to have "new blood"

duchesse · 19/04/2008 12:14

I think they will be fine. It will be a change but I doubt they will be too bothered at those ages tbh.

Iworryalot · 19/04/2008 12:20

I hope they will settle in and gain friends ,my dd is very excited about it as she hasnt many friends at the school she is at now (another reason for changing )

Lots of children move schools at different ages and different times in the school year. My dcs are 6 & 8 and have several good friends who joined their classes part way through the year. New children tend to be the most popular for a while!

It may be that the change really suits them especially if your dd is not 100% happy at her present school.

Iworryalot you are worrying a lot!! Be positive about the move and they will be too!

Thanks and your right i must be positive and theres a great deal of positive things than negative, at the moment we leave home at 8 am and the children dont get home till 5 pm every day as the school is half an hours drive. There school day ends at 4.30 . And then its a big rush to have tea do homework and bath let alone time for them to play or watch TV.(another reason for change )

Iworryalot, is is worth finding out the names of some of the children in your children's classes in advance and maybe inviting them round to play ?

mamablue · 19/04/2008 13:13

Sounds like it will be a much better arrangement! They will have more time to invite all their new friends home to tea.
I am sure it will be a great new start for them and you. Good Luck.

Iworryalot · 19/04/2008 13:14

yes could do that ,I think as mamablue said i must be positive and they will be to .
Will be strange for me to meeting new Mums

Now don't start worrying about that! I am sure you will meet lots of great new friends. Try to relax and just enjoy meeting new people.
This time next year you will be wondering why you were so worried.

You are welcome Iworryalot.
