What will happen to son's bursary if daughter starts?

Hello,

My son currently is in year 8 and he receives a bursary.

Firstly; his school has already emailed us regarding the VAT and we are awaiting further news in the next couple of weeks but that side of things isn't an issue right now in regard to my query as they have a plan in place.

My daughter is at the preschool at my son's school; she receives 15 hours a week funding and we then pay on top. She is due to start reception September 2025.

I will also be starting work now, or I have started to apply for jobs part time while she is there for three days a week (this is proving more difficult than I expected).

We would love for her to start at the reception at their school, but it works out to be around £1000 a month, ish.

If I am working by then, which I really hope I will be considering it's a year away, what would happen in regards of my son's bursary?

Has anyone been in this position before? I wonder if they will say to us that they'd not take on our daughter, as that money could go towards our son's fees? Which I guess makes sense but we'd like them both to be at the same school with the same opportunity I guess.

My son has been at the school since year 1, and our daughter wasn't planned- just in case anyone asks why we sent one child etc etc.

Thank you! X

I suppose it depends whether your additonal earnings would mean that you were no longer eligible for a Bursary and/or whether they would deduct the cost of your daughters fees from their assessment.
Best speak to the school

Your daughter joining is not really the problem I don’t think. The problem will be that your extra earnings will increase your household income and therefore may mean that you no longer qualify for the nursery. Are you hoping they will count your daughter’s school fees as part of your outgoings? Not sure if the works!

All bursaries are different, you need to know what happens at your school.

I guess my main concern would be if I spoke to the bursar regarding this; would it put me in a position where they could potentially question us going forwards. I don't want to jeopardise my son's place there as he's doing very well. He has SEN and that why we made the move in the first place.

Yes I kind of guessed they would because when you fill the form out every year it asks if you are paying for another child's education
