Anyone know anything about early years educator degrees?

I’m wondering whether studying for an Access to Higher Education qualification is best for an adult, or do a level 3 early years course. I’m not sure whether the level 3 course would give enough UCAS points though.

Access is a one year course, a level 3 course is normally two years (it depends on the size of the course).

Assuming you are a mature student you might not need either.

Hoping to find a suitable online course.

Be careful with online courses, they may not be accepted by unis, check with uni before you spend your money.

If you are currently working in an EY setting you can complete the EYE L3 course via an online college. Do your research to avoid dodgy ones!!! They should send an assessor into your setting, plus you will need a qualified practitioner in your setting working alongside you who can complete further observations of your work.
It’s a big course and takes time to complete, but a couple of students I have had were working full time in EY and completed the course in 6/7 months. Most take a year.

Thanks very much for the advice both re checking providers. How would I know a good one from a dodgy one?

TrustPilot is pretty reliable to give you ideas of providers.

This one has good reviews : https://ukopencollege.co.uk/product/early-years-level-3/

Learndirect: I haven’t heard good things about lately. Think they’re better with smaller courses.

Thanks HairyFeline’. That one only earns 32 UCAS points, not enough to go on to a degree course later. I wonder if that is the case with all the level 3 EYE courses.

Usually a course is a set amount of UCAS points…there is a Level 5 you can do, too, that is management level. It’s being updated from September this year. I guess it depends if you want to work and study alongside…work your way up as you earn.
