My 7 year old dd is doing her homework and I am sure that there is a teacher error. Before I do anything to highlight this, are there any english masters who could tell me if I am right or wrong. The word is eerie, she has been asked to choose the correct spelling. The choices are:
eary or eery. I have only known it with the ie at the end. Am I right?

Hmm- thought it was eerie but could be wrong!

I think both eery and eerie are correct mouseman.

Thank you. I have even looked it up and the dictionary did not offer an alternative spelling!

eery

ee·rie or ee·ry (îr'ē)
adj., -ri·er, -ri·est.

Inspiring inexplicable fear, dread, or uneasiness; strange and frightening.
Suggestive of the supernatural; mysterious. See synonyms at weird.
Scots. Frightened or intimidated by superstition.
[Middle English eri, fearful, from Old English earg, cowardly.]

eerily ee'ri·ly adv.

So although I would have said eerie, eery is an acceptable spelling apparently.

According to Chambers Dictionary it can be spelt eerie or eery. I have only ever seen it spelt eerie, however. As a secondary school English teacher, I would probably correct eery back to eerie, tbh!

Thanks so much. I do think that giving Y2 such unusual spellings is not too wise but hey ho! glad I checked before leaving a sarcastic comment!
