Hello
As the tile suggests we are moving to St Albans from NW London with our 2 little boys. My eldest has just finished reception and we will be joining year 1 in September. I have my eye on Maple and The Abbey CE. Maple is closer but I really like the look of The Abbey online just wanted to hear from any parents who have kids at either who can let me know what they're like and if they're happy with them?
My third choice would be St Alban and St Stephens so again any parents with kids there have you got any comments good and bad regarding these schools.
Feels really daunting moving my son when he's settled so well into his current school so some feedback would be reassuring
Many Thanks in advance

Do you know which schools have spaces? The LA can advise you. I don’t know the area at all but popular schools are usually full and appeals at KS1 are very hard to win.

I believe The Abbey and St Albans & St Stephens both have spaces in KS1 but I have been advised that sometimes spaces crop up in September when pupils do not return to the school for whatever reason so really want to consider it. Its the closest to us

They post vacancies in link below. None of them have spaces except St Albans and St Stephens

I would advise just to go as close as possible for primary school. You'll be constantly going back and forth for various reasons and it means all their friends will be close too . It can take you half an hour to drive a very short distance at the wrong time of day in St Albans. If you can just walk there in 10 minutes your life will be much easier. Most of the schools are just really good.

Having said that, you could consider Alban City School. It is a new comer compared to the other schools so have an airy modern feel. I've heard parents say good things about it.

Much appreciated

I think I will definitely go and see that too as its fairly close by and looks like they have vacancies. You cant see any academic performance or other info on the .gov.uk website though which I would like to view as part of my decision but much appreciated to both for bringing it to my attention

You can find schools and colleges in your area. You can also view exam and test results, financial details and Ofsted reports.
