I wonder if there are any Kiswahili speakers on here? I would love someone to talk to/write to in Swahili. Ninawazia kama kuna mzungumzaji wa Kiswahili hapa? Ningependa kuongea/kuandikia mtu katika Kiswahili. Or anyone else learning Swahili would be great.

@Crumbsalive

CityLit are offering an online course in Swahili, starting in the autumn, if you would find that helpful.

I see that Foyles have a recently published beginners book for Swahili, which might be interesting.

It might be an idea to get MN to edit the thread title to include the specific language.

I will get in touch with CityLit although I am beyond the beginner stage now. It's conversational practice that I need but also a Swahili-speaking friend in the U.K. would be a real boost.

@Crumbsalive

There's a Swahili Studies Conference at SOAS in October of this year.

Could you get a ticket for that? There are bound to be lots of Swahili speakers there and possibly someone who can continue to stay in touch with you in the future.

Once again, thank you very much. That sounds like just the thing for me. It will be good to have contact with SOAS too.
