You know how a lot of us object to the way girls' schools r run on state money but won't let any old taxpaying male in?

You can get into church school by lying about your faith. Prehaps if you send your child to a poncy prep school and do loads of coaching they might get a place at the grammar school.

However the girls' school requires a sex change! (Even if your little boy has a siser at the school already)

Don't forget to start one about boys' schools, RT

Are there many single-sex schools in the state sector, then? I have only ever heard of private ones.

FAQ · 03/04/2008 22:16

There's 1 of each (1 girls, 1 boys - both Comps) in Northampton

WendyWeber · 03/04/2008 22:21

Lancaster has both - selective - so does Skipton - ditto.

So they fit into both RT's themes...

I am being a bit naughty. Faith schools only allow believers in and many atheists feel its unfair.

I am suggesting its unfair that my son cannot attend one of the best state schools in the area.

I am not really that bothered as I am opposed to single sex education. I think there is more to education than academic results. I went to a single sex girls school and I think it failed to prepare me for the real world, even though I got fanastic results.

Clapping and cheering, as the mother of three DSs in a borough where there aren't enough school places for boys, and where there is an okay girls' school 25 metres from our home!
