Primary and senior schools in Harrow area

This is one of a few posts.

We have two children currently living in a flat and are looking to buy a house budget app. 600 - 650k.

We are exploring a few areas and schools are obviously very important.

So, one of the places we are looking at is Harrow.

Can people advise:

  • on any specific streets/areas that are a catchment for good state schools (understand the catchments might change somewhat over time)
  • what schools would people recommend
  • we have no religion so could be excluded from some schools / but pretty happy about any schools if they take us

Thank you

Harrow is a large borough with dozens of good schools. Do you have an area of Harrow that you're interested in, or a tube line you need to be near to?

If the children are already of school age, you will have to find schools with spaces. Narrowing down to a particular street won't get you a place.

Children still young, under 3yo. Don’t know the area at all, don’t know if there are bits that are better and those that are a bit rough.

Will need to travel into the City, so house relatively short distance away from the tube. Haven’t looked yet which of the stations in Harrow is best connected to the City.

So basically, want to make sure considering the above that when looking for houses we don’t end up in area that doesn’t have ‘guaranteed’ good school in the catchment

North Harrow is a good bet. You’ve got both Pinner Park and St John Fisher (that’s a catholic school but lots of non catholics go) for Primary and then Nower Hill for secondary which is an excellent school. Or up towards West Harrow you’ve got Vaughan primary which mostly feeds in to Nower Hill too (from the county roads)

Otherwise look around Cannon Lane / Cannonbury Avenue way as there is Canon Lane primary and Pinner High secondary in catchment.

Grimsdyke school in Hatch End is great for primary but tends to feed into Hatch End which doesn’t have such a good rep. Lots of parents move in year 5 or send to private from there.

West Lodge also a great primary but with tiny catchment. Not sure where most of those kids go to secondary - poss Nower Hill but it a fair distance.

Pinner wood school also a great primary and feeds mostly into Northwood - again a great school.

All have small catchment ts at present. North Harrow has a met line tube as does West Harrow. Pinner tube is good for west lodge.

Pinnerwood least accessible for tube but has good bud routes to the tube.

All of these are on the met line. About 25 mins to Baker St.
