Power of 2 / plus 1

My child unable to attend school at moment due to anxiety. Child has a lot of medical issues and learning difficulties. Was on sen register but not EHCP as not deemed severe enough for school to apply. We are now in process of applying ourselves.
Child was supported by power of 2 intervention (and other interventions) but school moved to plus 1 when they discovered that power of 2 was too difficult for child to manage.
For the evidence I'm sending can I just explain the above or will I need to explain type/level of work that power or 2 and plus 1 includes?
The school view is that child isn't too far behind but my view is a child of year 6 who can't do one more or one less needs significant support.

Any advice would be appreciated

Plus 1 and Power of 2 are fairly widely recognised interventions but I'd clarify that Plus 1 is a KS1 catch-up intervention ie helping children with the foundations of Y1 and Y2 work.

Thank you. Our thoughts was ks1 as child struggles with year 1 work. As child is 11 now (yr 6) in your opinion is this significantly behind to warrant assessment for dysculcula? And a EHCP

Child is very aware and embarrassed by how much they struggle.

EHCPs are about far more than academic ability, but, yes, it sounds like DD meets the threshold for an EHCNA, so you should request one. There isn’t a rule saying DC have to be X number of years below age related expectations in order to get an EHCP. On their website, IPSEA has a model letter you can use to request an EHCNA.
