Another vote for Next slim/skinny fit which you can also adjust if needed.

I find M&S generally comes up large on my very slim DS

I've found the two pack - I couldn't find them last year.

M&S sizes are so confusing they should probably revert to selling them in actual sizes like mens trousers waist size and inside leg.

For each age they do 3 waist sizes, Regular, Slim and Plus.
And 2 or 3 leg lengths

How to confuse?

Yes, actual sizes would be better. I don't really see the point in having smaller waist trousers then longer leg trousers. Is a 12 slim the same as a 10 long (or similar), just labelled differently? Mens aren't perfect, seem to be designed for middle aged men with no bum, but easier to work out.

I have also wondered if a 12 slim was the same as a 11 long.

The longer legs 🦵 make little sense to me. Kids clothes are sold by height 12 is 152cm / 5ft so surely the average 152cm boy has the same lenght of legs?

Or do they do something daft like make them the same lenght from the waist to the bottom but have the crotch higher up? 🤔

M&S please explain your crazy sizes. 🤪
I do know the skinny fit polo's are shorter than standard fit in the same size but not quite as short as the size below.
And we also had a year when the polo's shrunk. So the 9-10s ended up shorter than the 8-9s.

DS definitely has long legs for his exceptionally skinny height. He is the same height as I am sitting down, despite the 9 inch height difference between us standing up.

We had the wonderful BhS slim fit extra extra long, the only trousers to fit someone with 26 inch waist, 36 inch inside leg. I bulk bought when they went out of business.

He now buys long slim fit adult trousers with turn ups . Rolls the turn ups down and wears them as 7/8 length trousers. But I would be the first to acknowledge that he is not just slim, but could easily audition for Mike Teevee after the gum stretching machine.

I guess like us some kids have longer legs shorter torsos and vice versa. He is wearing age 12 already 🙈. I'll take him for a shopping spree and see if the M & S or Next are a better fit :)

I think he will need the slim fit shirts as the normal
Ones will swamp him. He's in slim fit polos and they fit him well :)

For those questioning extra long / skinny fit.
My 15 year old need aged 10 waist, aged 16 length. Yes, he's slim, but healthy, and not at the edges of the BMI.
We need all the waist and length help we can get to avoid acres of fabric round his bum!

I don't know why the can't make them all unhemmed, as standard and extremely long, and let us all hem them with wonder web. It's MUCH easier reduce length than reduce the waist by the 13 cm we need if we buy standard trousers that aren't cropped in style!

Cricket trousers are sold unhemmed, I discovered. Brilliant idea….
