(Not our increase - comment on PP)

4% for us. A very well written letter explaining the increase, what's being done to mitigate the 20% next year etc.

Hi, would you mind sharing what's being done to mitigate the 20% next year from the school?

Lebr · 29/03/2024 12:08

10%, This follows 3 increases of around 6% in each of the preceding 3 years. So fees have gone up by around one-third in 4 years.
The fee increase letter also had an appendix explaining why they couldn't be bothered to put in a fees in advance scheme.

There are lot of angry parents (hundreds) already communicating via whatsapp.

Droolylabradors · 29/03/2024 12:11

Talking about reducing extra curricular offerings mainly without changing the special nature of the school.

Theyve offered for parents to pay multiple Yr fees in advance too, with a legal caveat that it is based on current tax regulations and parents should consult an adviser.

Thank you for the info. I am still waiting for news from my school and started to be scared by some increase posted by PP. 15% is insane, even before talking about the VAT threat.

Do you hear by letter or email? If email would it be possible it would come out today given it’s Good Friday?

Have just paid deposit for joining in 2024 and not sure how this works but keen to know!

It will depend on the school, ours communicates via email. We have just had the invoice for next term but no info about fees for 24/25. They will have to do it before start of next term to allow for a term's notice for any parents wanting to take their DC out.

Besideourselves · 29/03/2024 13:04

15% brings the fees closer to the local alternatives but it’s a much smaller school and thus the offering is less across the board - subjects, results, extra curricular, trips , careers etc.
going into yr 11 so no move for us but unless we see some value for money def look elsewhere for sixth form.

Rosalindtheredhead · 29/03/2024 14:05

Huh? Zero, school is free. Paid my taxes.

Some of these are terrifying

15%! We are gobsmacked. No explanation just an email with a link to the fee page on the website!

Ouch! Don't know ours yet but our school always provides an explanatory letter from the governors, outlining the rationale for the increase, an overview of the current situation and any upcoming capital projects etc. Your school really owes you that with an increase of that size.

MyNameIsFine · 29/03/2024 16:50

7%

No. The government just abolished free schools and added fees to state schools. Announced it last night. 😂

7% 😢

Worldgonecrazy · 29/03/2024 17:35

It’s not been published yet. From memory, over the last few years it has been quite low every year, nothing above 6% and mostly 3%, one year there was no increase, so quite fortunate.

It was just a joke. Are you from this country? Don't worry, you don't have to pay anything. 😊

BaleOfHay · 29/03/2024 17:51

7% too. 10% last year. Ouch.

YireosDodeAver · 29/03/2024 23:04

We had our announcement on the last day of the spring term. As notice needs to be given by the first day of summer term if you want to pull your child out it does seem that this is a deliberate timing to ensure there is zero scope for any discussion/consultation/meetings which seems rather a calculated move. Not that we want to do so - we are happy with the school.

Waiting for ours... Some of these numbers are terrifying 😬 Last year we were hit with 10% fee increase. That came with no explanation at all, and I suspect the same will happen this year.
I sincerely hope not however, as we have one in reception and one in Y4. Last year they gave the notification of increase a day after the window for accepting other local school offers closed.

MrPickles73 · 01/04/2024 08:54

We had 15% last year.. we're escaping to a grammar school before vat hits..

Digimoor · 01/04/2024 09:25

We have a natural break point coming up so we will see how the land lies then
