Hello all,
DS got accepted at WUS at 8+ and while the school pedigree reads amazing, any real day-to-day insights on the schools working would be great.
Looking for general advice on getting to the school - a bit of a pain without routes in NW London.

Congrats!

We joined WUS last year and have been enjoying it. It's a very nurturing school in the sense that the every student is made to feel confident while being challenged academically. I love the balance between academic learning and extracurricular activities. Boys are certainly exposed to a great variety of sports and a great amount of them.l each week. There's a good emphasis on character building , and a huge amount of exposure to talks, performances and interactions by leading experts across disciplines. Though pupils are challenged, no one seems to be made to feel pressured. Having said that this is year 3 so don't expect to be either. There's a shuttle bus from north london to the school i believe but the closer you are the better. I'd avoid commuting longer than 30mins each way if I could.

Hope that helps!

Yes, there is a NW bus as far north as Golders Green, I believe, from the days my sons were there. I don’t think they have changed it because it’s an established route. Boys would have to be at bus stop pretty early though, like 7am, so it would be tough for a 7-8yo because it’s a long day (at least 1hr each way). A boy in my son’s class did this journey starting in Y4 for 5 years but he was pretty hardy so might work for some.
