Hi can anyone give an honest, anon review of this school (or other locals please?). We have also looked at Yateley, St Neot's, Barfield looks fab but oversubscribed. Considering entering DS from nursery.

Yateley Manor is brilliant.
Several children in my family have thrived there.

Not my own child but a friend sent her DD to St Nicholas school and was really happy after an initial tricky period (just settling in issues I think, she went midway through year 5 and from what my friend said her dd struggled with friendships for a while), her dd did well and did end up settling in fine at school. friend said some of the trips seemed astronomical yet felt compulsory even though they weren’t.
Equally I have friends who have sent theirs to Barfield and all have good things to say about it. All I can tell you is the traffic situation there made me want to tear my hair out when I was on my way to work in the mornings (now wfh so not a problem for me anymore!).

We are very happy with Yateley Manor - I have 3 children there and know of multiple families which moved from St Nicholas school as they didn't get on there

Hi! I sent my eldest daughter here. It’s a horrible experience unless your child is very underconfident or extremely clever. They have always favourited the pushy mums because they’re scared! The PE department treated my eldest with such disrespect. They never put her in the matches though she used to be in netball teams, dance and gymnastics. My eldest is tall unlike my others who are tiny and they wouldn’t give any solo to her in a concert because they were giving it to the smallest girl there who wasn’t the best at all. It’s really unfair the way we have been treated. Some rules they have are outrageous! Such as you must be in school before 8:30 if you’re in year 3-11! They also do 4 languages which is two much! They do Latin, Mandarrin?! French and Spanish. It’s ridiculous. DEFINITELY DONT RECOMMEND UNLESS YOUR DAUGHTER IS SMALL, BLONDE AND VERY CLEVER!!!

Hello. I felt it necessary to join and add an honest review of St Nicholas’ School without hidden agenda.
Our girls are happy at this school. When they haven’t been happy, for whatever reason, the school has always been there to listen to us. When we experienced a particularly difficult hurdle, the care and support from the school was second to none.
Yes, they do study multiple languages. This is to help the girls work out which ones they especially enjoy and will flourish in at GCSE. It’s a great opportunity.

The school is dedicated to helping each pupil develop and enjoy their individual strengths whether it’s sport, music, academics or helping with charities or concerts behind the scenes. This allows them to develop their personalities and preferences.
They have a jam packed day and they do have to be at school by 8.30 in the morning. Mine have never complained about this. Of course they get tired and of course they aren’t always keen to go into school on a Friday when they’ve had tests and extra curricular activities all week. But somewhere along the way they have learned to be disciplined with their learning and they will come home and straight away complete their homework before anything else, save for devouring a biscuit and a cup of tea maybe!
The school offers high academic achievement whilst allowing the pupils to enjoy a safe, homely and optimistic environment where they can be themselves. This is a very rare thing. I’m positive other parents feel the same.

We have two daughters at St Nick's and they both love every single day and are thriving with the range of opportunities available to them.

The school have some issues with their leadership, specifically the head of Juniors who is not capable in that role - but that has not impacted us too much.

However that aside we can't complain. If we could then we would leave.
