My daughters nursery teacher is retiering, She will be due to go in to the next class anyway so there won't be any disruption to her but We have all been asked by one of the mums to write a note to her along with a picture of our child, to make a presentation book for her. The problem is I just don't have a clue what to write.
She is a lovely teacher and has really helped my daughter to settle down and enjoy nursery. I want to put together some lovely words that will make her smile.
I'd be really greatfull for any ideas.

What you just wrote sounds lovely.

A friend who's a nursery teacher cried when a mum wrote in a Christmas card that her daughter couldn't have wished for a better start to her school life.

Thanks scootergrrl, That sounds lovely and so true of this teacher.

Do you think I could write a short poem as if it's from my daughter, or do you think that's a bit OTT ?

Ask your daughter what she likes about the teacher and write it down word for word. (As long as she doesn't say anything outrageous as children are apt to do!!)

That is a very sweet idea but she is only 3 and has a severe speech disorder, so wouldn't be able to communicate that.

She shows her a lot of affection though, through cuddling and blowing kisses etc. If I asked her somthing about the teacher though she would just answer Yes. I'm not sure how much she understands.

When you take the photo of her, get her to hold a sign with 'I will miss you Mrs X' on it. That will bring a tear to her eye!

As Maidamess said the words you wrote are lovely and like your poem idea too. As a teacher when parents say things like you made a difference, helped them settle in, helped them to enjoy time at school etc are always appreciated!

I've written this out, what do you think ?

To the lovely Mrs x
I couldn't have had a better start to my school life than having you as my teacher.
You've held my hand, dried my tears and made my very first memories of school ones of happiness and laughter.
You're the reason my face lights up when I see my red track suit in the mornings.
I will miss you so much, X won't be the same without you. Take care of yourself.
With all my love from X.

Perfect. Brought a tear to my eye anyway!

Thanks, I hope she likes it. I think it's best to say it as it is.
