A place on appeal

I’ve just posted one thread where I’m looking at my child coming to the school I work in but I don’t think it’s my preference. I’ve recently moved and looking at a place in y3 for a local school. They’ve said they’re full but I may get a place on appeal. I understand ks2 classes can go over 30 so im assuming an appeal would make my child the 31st child in the class.

in what grounds could I appeal in this instance? I live in catchment and have the necessary faith commitment but I’m not sure how that alone is enough to make them go over pan?

The fact you live in catchment and have the necessary faith commitment help you on the waiting list but are irrelevant for an appeal. To win an appeal you need to show that the disadvantage to your child from not being admitted outweighs any problems the school will face through having to cope with an additional pupil. You need to look for things your school offers that are not available from your child's current school and that are particularly relevant to your child. If, for example, your child is showing an aptitude for music and your school offers more musical activities than the current school, that would be a point in your favour.
