naming the bully

My colleague is writing a letter to her son's head teacher, complaining about they way they have (have not) handled a bullying case. She is copying this letter to the board of governers and the education welfare people.

Would she be within her rights to actually name the bully in this letter? Or is this a big no-no??

Name I reckon.
The bully who was at my DD (and 5 others in her class) was also a member of staff's daughter
Is there a pattern here? Seems to be common from this thread. Or is the pattern that they don't get dealt with as they should?

well I thought so at the time, and we had 2 quiet terms, but she is picking on another new girl this term

Inspectors in this week though, and we all wrote "doesn't handle bullying well" on our parental evaluation forms so let's see what the ramifications of that are!

I cannot understand why so many schools can't deal with bullying. It's not difficult, my own ds's middle school dealt with his tormentors really quickly and conclusively and I only had to raise the issue once and the head got involved too.
I do personally think that schools who allow this nonsense to continue without dealing with it, should be named and shamed.

our head didn't even KNOW about it until I wrote him a stiff letter, copied to the governors, and got parents of the other 5 children to turn up to our meeting to discuss it

I did point out to him that the fact he didn;'t know was APPALLING.

Hello again.. thanks for all the replies whilst i've been away. I will show her this thread at work tomorrow.

She has actually joined MN now as a result of the quick and sensible advice we got earlier today.

I would def use initials only. The school and all relevant parties know exactly who you are referring to anyway, but just confirms in writing to them so there is no mistake. Good luck, Been there ourselves!!
