Ideas for placement for Health and Social care college course?

My daughter has just started this course at regional college and she has to arrange a placement for 1-2 days a week which she can use to to learn from. But the college aren’t giving very many ideas of where to go- they even suggested a charity shop which if I’m honest doesn’t really seem like she’d benefit from. Or am I wrong? What sorts of settings do students normally go to for this course?

Care home work, hospital volunteer, volunteer at a support group for those with dementia, learning difficulties, socially isolated, carers for example.

I think volunteering at a care home would be perfect, and should be easy to access. She might be able to get some paid hours as a carer after a while

Look you local branch(es) of MENCAP - I know ours take student placements and it helps them out a lot to have extra enthusiastic people around to help facilitate activities.

Other charities that run day services would be the same I imagine - mental health, older people...?

Contact your local authority

My dc did this course students in the class did - hospital volunteer, walk in centre, gp practice, nursing homes, day centre for elderly, learning disabilities centre.
Act early as possible it took forever for them to sort the insurance/paperwork out and many placements were delayed.

My DD struggled to find a placement. She was not seventeen until the following August and companies did not want a sixteen year old on a placement for insurance reasons. She ended up volunteering on the dementia ward at the local hospital. This in turn helped her to secure a job with the NHS, they said her volunteering showed empathy.
