Becoming a PE teacher

Hi wise mumsnet. I'm just looking for some guidance as I am not at all familiar with the UK Higher education system.
My husband is thinking about becoming a PE teacher. He was a grassroots football coach for many years and has a bachelor's degree from another country is an unrelated topic.

What would be the best path for him to become a PE teacher? Does he need to go back to school for another bachelor's degree or is there a cheaper/quicker way?

I don't know the answer to this, but it's a good Q. I don't think this board is very busy. Maybe repost in "Chat" in the morning?

Find a university offering the PGCE in physical education locally, and contact them about their entry requirements. They may have conversion courses to offer if DH’s degree doesn’t quite match their requirements. Most PGCE places also require trainees to have had some (average 10 days) experience of a school setting.

If you repost in 'The Staffroom' you will get teachers. Some teachers come on here, but there are more on their dedicated MN board.

@kisaki333 There are DoE teacher training advisors. This is a free service and it's really helpful. I don't teach what my degrees were in but thanks to them, they were able to tell me exactly what I needed to do to teach another subject. They will also provide advice on the personal statement on the application.
