Hi lovely people!

I have A*s in English lang and lit but my (going into) Y8 kid is struggling with PQAEs. She's told me what it stands for but can anyone pinpoint some resources to help me help her?

Thank you!

Why do you need to help her? Teachers are the ones paid to do that. Does she need help? If so, speak to the school full of qualified educational professionals. I've got an A* at GCSE in German and French, but it doesn't mean I'm capable of teaching my DC how to pass the current exams in those subjects .

I teach GCSE and A level English Lang and I have no idea what that stands for.

Thanks @MrsHamlet!

I just want to help her, like a normal parent who has a certain degree of knowledge (compared to a Y7 kid...) who can help bring her on. If her teachers were responding to her ask for help I'd leave it to them... but why wouldn't you help your child if you could and they asked?

Of course you'd help if you could... but there is no "way" to answer questions. What does that stand for?

What does the acronym stand for? I think it may be a unique one to your DD’s school. I’m wondering if it’s a PEEL type thing? (Point, Evidence, Explain, Link).
Probably the best thing to do is speak to her teacher as to what you can do to help her.
Usual advice to improve English is lots of reading of various types and genres, practising past exam papers/ study guides. Also, if you can afford one/ feel inclined to do so.
