In year Admissions moving to Hertfordshire

I am in need of advice please.

I have secured a property in Hertfordshire and intend on moving with my son. I need to do an in year admission for my son to start year 7. He has a placement at a secondary school in another county currently. If I start the in year admissions process with Hertfordshire County Council for a new school will his current school be notified?

Currently awaiting a hearing to see if I will be granted permission to move permanently, have been ordered not to remove my son from his current school placement until the hearing.

I want to take all the steps necessary that I can to ensure my son has a chance at getting a good school placement in Hertfordshire without risking breaking the order by removing my son from his current placement.

I am worried if the counties are required to contact each other when receiving in year admissions that my son will lose his current school placement.

Does anyone have experience in this or know how it works?

Your son's current school cannot remove his place just because you have applied for another school.

Contact Herts school admissions. Sort out and follow the application process but you must know what schools have places. You then notify your existing school Dc has left. At the start of next term if they are closed now.

If the schools are private. It’s different. New school will probably ask for a reference. Plus you will pay a term’s fees in lieu of notice. If state, just secure the new place in line with admission policies.

Has something happen? Why is there an order to not remove your son from current school?

Your answers have been really helpful thank you.

Doesn't have any bearing on his current place at all.

If there’s a court order about residence and school, it does matter what you do.

A court order is unlikely to prevent OP applying for another school, but she clearly cannot move her son while the order is in place.
