Would any current Papplewick parent (particularly in the Lower school) be happy to share their experience either on the forum or over a conversation. We really loved the school tour and enjoyed our interaction with the HM and some teachers but wanted to get parents perspective. Our DS is academically inclined so we felt this might be a good fit. His current school is decent but very parent led in terms of learning and quite poor in parent - staff communication. So, I would greatly appreciate your feedback.

My son is in his first year at one of the blue chip full boarding schools. There is a boy in his dorm from Papplewick.
In fact it is this boy's appalling behaviour, that prompted me to look into MN posts about the school.
If this particular boy from Papplewick is any indication of the general culture at the school, then I only have two words for you: stay away!

This brings back memories, my son was at one of these senior schools. I think it could even be the same one due to the shared dorms, nothing will be done (it never is).

They tolerate appalling behavior and really don't care if other boys lives are a misery. We realized in the end that they are only interested in the £££'s.
Hopefully for you he is not from a family who donates large sums to o the school.
The behavior only gets more disturbing.

Pastoral care for 90% of the boys was non existent.

Any recent opinions on Papplewick? Do they all echo that behaviour and boundaries are poor?

Legoninjago1 · 11/05/2024 09:29

Absolutely the opposite in my experience. Behaviour is generally very good and boundaries and discipline very clear.

Legoninjago1 · 11/05/2024 09:32

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe @Leagueofgentlemen is commenting on the senior school her son was at and not Papplewick? Obviously except for the comments on the ex Papplewick boy in the dorm.

Which was a different poster.
