What level TA would be responsible for a 1:1 child with behavioural difficulties?

Anyone they could get to agree to do the job.

Spendonsend · 20/07/2023 19:41

In my schools they are Level 3.

I've known it to be levels 1-3 depending on the nature of the child's needs.

Bossedbyasmallperson · 20/07/2023 19:44

They don’t have to have any level/ qualifications. Most of the 1:1 at my child’s school are parents that applied.

Saucery · 20/07/2023 19:45

In a SEND school then a TA2b or 3. In mainstream, usually a TA2a or even a TA1 if they can pass the needs off as purely personal care.

Hummusanddipdip · 20/07/2023 19:45

I'm level 2 qualified and have worked with behavioural children. It is usually more of a personality fit between the adult and the child rather than a qualification at the school I work in.

Much of the time it will be agency staff on minimum wage willing to put up with personal injury in order to get experience for their CV. They are unlikely to have any specialist qualifications higher than a CACHE level 2.

Unless specifically specified in an EHCP, whoever gets the job - someone without qualifications, someone with qualifications may be awful for the child.
