Can you get a student loan for a second degree?

I did my first degree just before tuition fees came in, and my parents covered maintenance, so I didn't take out a loan. I've now had many years off work ill, and when/if (I'm telling myself it's when, not if!) I'm healthy again, I would love to do another degree, for a new career. The career options that I had when I was younger are no longer viable after 20 years off work ill. Does anyone know whether I could get a student loan in these circumstances?

Only for allied health professions courses (physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and a few more I've forgotten about). Even then you sometimes have to try a few times to remind Student Finance England about this depending on who you get answering enquiries.

That's interesting - thank you. The degree that I would like to do is in acupuncture. How could I find out whether I could get a student loan for this?

I think it might depend on the course and the uni as to if the course is accepted as an allied health professionals course and allows student finance for a second degree.
The NCA seems to say their 3 year degree does not qualify for it but their 4 year part time degree does.
