Easter school trip before GCSEs?

My dd is hardworking and getting high grades but also quite anxious and perfectionist. Her school are running a trip next Easter abroad for 3 nights with a very packed schedule including leaving at 1230am the first day. She’s doing her GCSEs the next term. Most of her friends are going .

I’m not so worried about her missing revision time and revision classes given that she’ll have done 2 more sets of mocks before then, but more about how exhausted she will get plus she’s prone to colds etc - which could wipe out the following week as well!

But it looks an amazing and educational trip which will definitely be relevant to her A levels and so I’m in two minds?

I’ve never heard of a school planning something like this right before GCSE’s. It’s brave and if I’m honest, I think it’s great. They will have worked hard up until then and it’s like the last hurrah before they buckle down for last minute revision and exams. It’s also the last time they will be together as a year group as some will inevitably be going their separate ways. Just explain to her that if she goes, she needs to revise upon her return. The first few days of the Easter holidays are always a write off anyway. Teachers are under so much pressure and they (unfortunately) pass it on to the kids. By Easter, everyone needs a break as after Easter it is completely full on until exams end in June.

Our school runs a week long trip in the Easter holidays each year and gets good results.

She will be fine.

Ah that’s good thank you! I agree it’s fine in principle but I’m a bit worried 1) she’ll get tired and also catch a bug and be unable to work the second week. 2) she’ll panic , which is her biggest issue. In some ways I’d rather take her for really good couple
of days out or even away with me for a night. Less fun for her though!

At the moment she’s decided no but as I don’t have to pay the deposit quite yet we’ll think about it for a few days. There’s a huge waiting list so her place would get taken if we pull out.

My DD did it at Easter she was fine. There is loads of time to revise for GCSEs and a break is a good thing

What's her view? I thought just two or three nights away over Easter somewhere in the UK would have been a lovely restful break for my DC, leaving them almost all of the holidays to revise. They said no however, despite not normally being super hard working.

When I saw this I thought of the two week scout trip to Costa Rica on 2 years that we decided against as it would take up the entire holiday, this length- good idea!
