wow this will be the first time i actually look forward to being woken by dd at 330! Do you thnk the sky will be clear enough? yesterdays weather said warmer (relatively) nights now as more overcast

discoverlife · 20/02/2008 12:12

I think it will show through as a change in the cloud cover even if you don't see it directly.

One year I am going to see a full Solar eclipse even if it means going to Africa for it.

ah nice!

might get up for that.

Did you see the solar eclipse here in the UK about 10 years ago (sorry for hijack)?

It was amazing - we were with family in Cornwall. It was cloudy but we still got the swooping darkness in the back garden. It was really spooky and quite awe-inspiring. Would definitely recommend seeing one.

I may have a look for this. In 1999 I was lucky enough to be stood on a cliff in Holywell bay near newquay, and saw the total solar eclipse that others sadly missed who were waiting in cloudier parts of cornwall. It was truly awe inspiring, I remember the feeling now. Lots of insignificant little humans looking into space, at an event we couldn't stop or alter. Bloody marvellous.

X post miffy!
Was amazing wasn't it?

discoverlife · 20/02/2008 13:30

Missed it because of horrendously thick clouds. But what was amazing was how spooky it got. It got darker and darker and the birds stopped singing and a gusty wind blew up out of nowhere.
Every time there is something amazing astronomically in the skies, I am always under thick cloud cover.

Thanks for the post. We saw the total solar eclipse in 1999, watched it in dad's newly dug fishpond while on holiday.
will be up later then to see the lunar one- something I have never seen. (unless the fog comes back, or the little peeps actually sleep
